Saffron Threads Pure (1g)

$9.90

Origin:  Iran

Why is saffron so expensive?  Each saffron flower only produces 3 threads and the plants require pollination by human hand.  It can take thousands of flowers just to get 30grams!

Saffron has a delicate earthy and sweet flavour with a little hint of bitterness, you will note some floral and honey notes as well.  Mostly used in curries, risottos and meat casseroles.

Origin:  China

Garlic granules are small pieces of dehydrated garlic that can be used as a seasoning in cooking. They are a convenient alternative to fresh garlic as they have a longer shelf life and can be used in recipes that require a milder garlic flavor. To use garlic granules, simply measure out the desired amount and add it to your recipe. They can be used in a variety of dishes, including soups, stews, marinades, and rubs for meats. It’s important to note that garlic granules are not a substitute for fresh garlic in all recipes, so be sure to read your recipe carefully before using them.

White pepper is the better choice when it comes to light coloured dishes like cream soups, white sauces, pasta and potatoes.  The whole peppercorn can be used in pots for flavour by tying a handful into a cheesecloth bag which can be removed after cooking.  White pepper is a little more pungent in flavour than the black pepper so won’t need as much.
